Westmoreland United Church, at the corner of Westmoreland and Hallam streets, north of Bloor Street, in Toronto began as a Methodist mission of the Metropolitan Church in 1884. It was called the Dovercourt Mission (1886), and by 1892 the congregation had been entered into the rolls as Westmoreland. A fire in 1908 necessitated a new building which was completed in the following year. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925.

Wesley United Church, at 248 Ossington Street (at Dundas) in Toronto, was established in 1925, originally a Methodist Church. It began as a Methodist Church in 1876 and in 1921 it amalgamated with Crawford Methodist congregation in the Wesley building. In 1957 the church was destroyed by fire, and was rebuilt, opening in 1961. In 1983 it joined with Grace-Carmen to form Wesley-Grace-Carmen, and in 1988 that congregation joined with Westmoreland to form Westennial United Church.

Grace-Carman United Church in Toronto was established in 1966 upon the union of Grace United Church and Carman Memorial United Church. The new congregation used the Grace building, which was located at 1155 College Street, at the corner of College and Sheridan Avenue, between Lansdowne Avenue and Dufferin Street. In 1983, Grace-Carman united with Wesley United Church to form Wesley-Grace-Carman United Church in the Wesley building.

The congregation originated in 1884 when Methodist meetings were first held in the former village of Brockton, newly annexed to the city of Toronto. In 1887, St. Clarens Avenue Methodist Church was opened;at the southwest corner of St. Clarens and Dundas Street West, near Lansdowne Avenue. At the turn of the century, a new site was purchased at the corner of College Street and Sheridan Avenue, between Lansdowne and Dufferin Street. In 1903, a Sunday school was opened at this location, and it soon became known as College Street Methodist Church, though the church building itself was not completed until 1908. At the time of union, College Street Methodist Church adopted the name Grace United Church. in 1966, Grace united with Carman United Church to form Grace-Carman United Church in the Grace building.

The church was located on Pauline Avenue, just north of Bloor Street West, between Lansdowne Avenue and Dufferin Street. In 1917, a new building was opened on the same site and was named in honour of Albert Carman (1833-1917), first General Superintendent of the Methodist Church (C.N.B.). In 1966, Carman Memorial united with Grace United Church to form Grace-Carman United Church in the Grace building.
