        History

The Watson family originated in Ireland, emigrating to Vaughan Township in 1836 after a short stay in the United States. James Watson, and his son William, purchased the east half of lot 32, concession 7 at this time. The family continued to farm the land in question well into the 1960's, when the property was sold. William Watson was a teacher first at the Bryson School (School Section # 10) and subsequently at the Purpleville School (School Section # 11). "Bob " (Robert William) Watson was the last owner of the subject property.
