Walter H. Wentzlaff (1900-1980) was a pastor and archivist in the Ontario District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (now East District of Lutheran Church-Canada). Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he studied at Fort Wayne (Ind.) Junior College, graduated from Concordia Seminary, Springfield, (Ill.) and was ordained in 1925. He served the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregations of Bethlehem, Vancouver (B.C.) from 1925 to 1926, Normanby and Howick (Ont.) from 1927 to 1939, Monkton and Logan (Ont.) from 1939 to 1947, Tavistock (Ont.) from 1947 to 1949, and Kingsville (Ont.) from 1949 to 1970. During his ministry in Kingsville, he was instrumental in organizing the congregation in Harrow (Ont.). He also served the district as chairman of the Board of Appeals and was district archivist from 1968 to 1980. He married Nora Schiemann in 1925 and had five children, Walter, Lloyd, Gerald, Norma, and Grace.
