    Administrative history

    The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) was responsible under the direction of the Minister of National Defence for the control and administration of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and its employment in accordance with governmental policy. He was to ensure RCAF preparedness and fighting efficiency at all times. He was a member of the Chiefs of Staff Committee and was the RCAF representative on various element of Canada’s higher defence organization.

    Series consists of files for the Chief of the Air Staff and dealing closely to Air Force topics. Includes NATO annual reviews (1956-1961 and 1964) and general files pertaining to international affairs. There are also files on NATO's: infrastructure, administration and organization, planning, equipment and supplies, and air defences.
