The Department of Student Affairs is established in 1959 in the Rector's Office. In 1970, it is replaced by Student Services, which reports Vice-Rector (Academic). In 1990, the Department becomes the Students' Affairs General Directorate. Seven student services operate under its umbrella. These are the Directorate of the University Centre, the Financial Aid and Awards Service, the Housing Services, the Career and Counseling Services, the Health Services, the Sports Services, Student life that includes the Campus Ministry, the women's Resource Center, the Foreign Student Counsellor, the Socio-Cultural Activities. It reports now to Vice-Rector (University Relations).
Scope and content
The Fonds contains files which document the functions of the Student Affairs General Directorate. It includes minutes of: committees relating to housing (1967, 1969-1970, 1971-1973), Students' Services (1968-1983), Cultural Affairs (1968, 1974-1976), Radio Campus , staff committees (1970, 1973-1975), committee relating to Career and Counseling Services (1971-1972, 1975), Financial Aid and Awards (1971-1977), Foreign Students Advisor (1974), committees relating to Sport Services (1972-1975, 1977, 1979-1983), Animation communautaire (1977-1993) as well as the University Center (1973). The fonds contains the annual, biennial and quadrennial reports of the Student's Affairs General Directorate (1964-1994) as well as many reports of the following units: General Directorate of the University Center (1975-1977, 1981-1982), Financial Aid and Awards Services (1976-1977), Foreign Students Advisor (1977-1978), Student Life Services (1972-1975), Housing Services (1976-1982), Career and Counseling Services (1978-1982), Campus Ministry (1981-1982), Sport Services (1981-1982), Health Services (1981-1982), Animation communautaire (1969, 1972-1975, 1981-1982) and of the Radio Campus (1970). Activity programs, files relating to United Way (1986-1994), memorandums (1972-), student guidebooks (1962-1972, 1981-1983, 1985-1986, 1991), statistics (1968-1970), bulletins including: Echo (1990-1995) and Sniff (1981-1982), correspondence and many publications can also be found. The fonds also contain sound recordings.
