The Secretary-General of the UN has been the UN’s chief administrative officer since the first session of the United Nations (UN), in 1946. He or she is appointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council and must act in that capacity in all meetings of the General Assembly and its committees and subcommittees. He or she must also provide and direct the staff required by the General Assembly and any committees or subsidiary organs which it may establish. Furthermore, the Secretary-General must make an annual report to the General Assembly on the work of the Organization, and additionally, may bring to the attention of the Security Council any matter which, in his or her opinion, may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security.

Fonds consists of reports by the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) to the UN Security Council regarding the actions of the UN Peacekeeping force in Cyprus between 1964 and 1968. The reports include chapters on the UN Peacekeeping Force in general, activities regarding the return to normal conditions, the military situation, economic restrictions, and financial matters pertaining to the Force.
