Administrative history
The County of York Law Association was incorporated on 30 December 1885 with 207 charter members. Governed by a board of trustees, the purpose of the Association was "the formation and support of a law library for the use of its members to be kept and maintained in the courthouse in the said City of Toronto and to provide for the general interest of the profession and good feeling and harmony among members". The Association changed its name to the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association in 1996. The name of the Association changed again in 2004 to the Toronto Lawyers Association.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of records pertaining to the history, social events and administrative functions of the Toronto Lawyers Association, previously known as the County of York Law Association. These records include membership lists and Association by-laws, membership fees and status, as well as minutes from meetings of the Association's Board of Trustees and committees. There are reports, financial ledgers, library acquisition lists, grants and funding reports, correspondence, drawings, and photographs.
