History
The TGH Administrative Council was formed in 1968, comprising the Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer and all executive heads of TGH administrative departments and divisions. The Council chair was elected by the general membership. The Executive Committee of the Administrative Council was the Hospital’s chief executive body and was chaired by the CEO.
The Hospital Administrative Committee, listed only in the 1967 Annual Report, may have been a precursor. From 1968-1971 the Administrative Council was listed in the Annual Reports as the Hospital Administrative Council. From 1972-1986 it was referred to as Administrative Council.
The Administrative Council was responsible for taking decisions in all aspects of the administration of the Hospital and, when appropriate, making recommendations for approval to the Board of Trustees and the Council’s Executive Committee.
