Administrative history

Tactical Air Command was formed as No. 11 Group of North West Air Command at Winnipeg, Manitoba on 1 March 1947. It was re-designated Tactical Group on 1 April 1949 and it became autonomous on 15 January 1951. It merged with North West Air Command on 1 August 1951 to form Tactical Air Group and it was elevated to Tactical Air Command on 1 June 1953. It was disbanded on 1 January 1959.

Series consist of 166 files regarding North West Air Command, Tactical Air Group, No. 1 Tactical Air Command and Tactical Air Command during 1944 to 1961. There are also files on No. 18 (Wing (Auxiliary) Headquarters and its unit No. 418 Squadron, and on 23 Wing (Auxiliary) Headquarters and its unit 406 Squadron. There are 6 subseries:
