Name of creator
Steve Paikin (1960-), journalist, producer and author, was born in Hamilton, Ontario and educated at the University of Toronto where he received his B.A. and Boston University where he received his M.A. in broadcast journalism. He has worked as an anchor at Queen’s Park for CBLT, as host of a daily news program for CBC Newsworld, held private reporting jobs for private radio and print media including the Hamilton Spectator and CHFI in Toronto but is probably best known for his work with TVOntario. Paikin began working at TVO in 1992 and was host of the political series "Between the Lines" and the Queen’s Park magazine "Fourth Reading" from 1992 to 1994. In 1994, he became the co-host of the news programme "Studio Two". He began hosting "Diplomatic Immunity", a foreign affairs talk show on TVO in 1998. In addition to his work on television, Paikin has produced a number of feature length documentaries including "Return to the Warsaw Ghetto", "A Main Street Man", "Balkan Madness", "Teachers, Tories and Turmoil" and "Chairman of the Board: The Life and Death of John Robarts". Paikin is the author of "The Life: The Seductive Call of Politics" for which he interviewed numerous politicians at both the federal and provincial levels about their reasons for entering into politics, "The Dark Side: The Personal Price of Political Life and Public Triumph" and "Private Tragedy: The Double Live of Jonn P. Robarts". He has been nominated for a Gemini Award for his work as host of "Studio Two" and has won awards at a number of film festivals for his documentary on the Warsaw Ghetto.
