    Administrative history

St. Paul's congregation was formed in 1872 and in 1876, a frame church was dedicated as St. Paul's, Rochesterville. The name was later changed to St. Luke's at the request of the minister of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Ottawa. The Rev. J. S. Lauder laid the cornerstone for a new church on October 18, 1889 which was subsequently completed for the growing congregation. St. Luke's burned down in the Autumn of 1903 and while being rebuilt, services were held in Booth's Hall. The church was reopened on February 16, 1904. By 1914, the congregation had again outgrown their church building and were making arrangements to sell the church and rectory as well as to build a new church on land which had been previously acquired. The foundation stone was laid by Sir Robert Borden on July 31, 1922. During construction the congregation had services in the Cambridge Street School. The opening services for St. Luke's, Ottawa were held on December 22, 1922. A chapel was completed and dedicated by 1955. Also, during May of that year, Bishop Ernest Samuel Reed dedicated Serson Clarke parish hall. In September of 1962, Bishop Reed rededicated the church after extensive redecoration and renovation and on May 24, 1966 the Bishop consecrated St. Luke's, Ottawa. The church was renovated in 1990/91 and services were held in the Bell Street United Church while St. Luke's was unavailable. The church received heritage status in 1990. The parish hall was demolished the following year and replaced by a senior citizen residence.
