Administrative history

Services began in Mr. Hodgin's school in 1873 and St. John's Church opened in 1885. The church was consecrated by Bishop J. Travers Lewis on December 18, 1888. Renovations on the interior and exterior of the church were made in 1916, including the addition of a new metal roof. The 75th anniversary of St. John's was celebrated on September 15, 1960 with Bishop Robert Jefferson in attendance and the 100th anniversary was held in 1985. St. John's, 6th Line/Huntley, along with Christ Church, 3rd Line/Huntley, and St. James', Carp, comprise the Parish of Huntley.

Fonds consists of records of the activities of St. John's congregation, 6th Line/Huntley, Ontario. It includes vestry records, 1932-1998, service registers, 1937-1992, records for committees and organizations, financial records, special services and events material, correspondence, historiography, newsclippings, and photographs.
