Administrative history
An early church was started in the Municipality of Wright, but before being completed it was destroyed by fire (no dates). Prior to starting this church and until the present St. James' was built, services were held in a local schoolhouse, used also by the Presbyterians and Methodists. The cornerstone for the church was laid July 8, 1882 by Alonzo Wright, M.P.P. St. James', Wright was opened for Divine service and was consecrated by Bishop William Bennett Bond of Montreal on August 23, 1885. In 2001, St. James' was designated as a memorial church which meets less frequently as a worshipping community. Wright is part of the Parish of the Northern Pontiac.
