Administrative history
The first Anglican service in Gatineau was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Rowe on January 2nd, 1927. Later, services were held in the schoolhouse and in the Community Hall. In 1928, an acre of land for a church was donated by the Canadian International Paper Company. St. George's, Gatineau was built in 1928-1929 and consecrated on July 12th, 1929. In 1965, the old St. George's was secularized and torn down due to its state of disrepair. In the same year, the new St. George's, Gatineau was built adjacent to the old and dedicated by Bishop Ernest Reed of Ottawa. St. George's is part of the Parish of the Eastern Outaouais.
