Administrative history
The Special Treatment Clinic for the treatment and control of venereal diseases was established in the Out-Patient Department of the TGH in 1915. Until 1933 treatments were jointly subsidized by matching grants from the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario. Federal assistance stopped in 1933, but the province continued to support the Clinic.
Dr. C.H. Hair was appointed Head of the Clinic in 1915. Dr. Gordon Bates was appointed as Head of the Clinic in 1920, and continued to serve as Director until [1949?].

Series consists of administrative records, including minutes, policy statements and medical notes, correspondence, and statistics; and patient case files containing confidential medical records.
