Lloyd had to leave us at 5 p.m. He sure is looking fine. He said he fell about 1100 ft + managed to get control when within four hundred feet of earth. He stated that he thought he was done for and that his mind run back fifteen years. Lloyd desires to be remembered

He would be pleased to hear from you. Willie is busy so this letter will have to do for both of us. We are certainly being drilled heavily. We are now in our eighth week of training which means that we have six more weeks before we are fit for France. According to the way things are going on at the front now is that we are now almost convinced that the war will be over this summer. The Allies are gaining great victories daily and I have my doubts whether we will ever see the front. I hear this

evening that a Canadian mail boat was submarined to day. I hope that none of our mail went down. We certainly considered ourselves lucky in getting over. We really do not know how close we were to having a watery grave. However we are grateful that we are on safe ground. Went down to Hazelmere yesterday afternoon + evening. Had supper at a soldiers club. Had three eggs, two slices of bread + butter + cup of tea for 25c. This place has pop. of about five thousand and it sure is a beautiful spot. We are to have Over Seas inspection by Colonel to-morrow morning + I have everything in readiness. Well Father if you have not sent the money as requested in previous

        [Page 4]
Letter I wish you would make it $20.00. I think that a Bank Money order would be best here. Be sure + keep the stub as receipt. Have same sent at once as I will need it. I expect to get a week end the end of April + so want it + also have to buy a few articles. Well father I will have to close as lights have to be turned out. Hoping you are all well. Pleased to learn that you had a good time at Stratford with Gladys. Well we will be home next fall + I have decided that I would get married + settle down. Lights out so must close.
        Your loving son
