Dear Bro,
I have been wanting to write you before this but as we have been kept on the go for past two weeks have been unable to do so. I was admitted to the hospital for scabies last Wed. and am getting meals + certainly do get better treatment than we did in England. I am almost cured + expect I will be sent back to unit in course of few days. Some of boys went up the line yesterday afternoon + I expect the rest of us will be going up shortly.
[Page 2]
We are not far from the front line + am quite used to the roar of the guns. The boys all seem to be very happy + are anxiously awaiting their turn at Fritz. They have been making quite a bit of headway lately. How long the war is going to last we cannot say but hope for the best + that it will soon come to an end. The airoplanes are flying about like bees + do not bother watching them as we used to. Sometimes Fritz comes over but very seldom gets far. We have not heard any thing further about Lloyd except that he is missing. I presume you heard about Robt. Washburn dying of wounds. That certainly was a shock to us as a few

days prior the report his brother Hames got a letter from him from the hospital + he reported as getting along fine. He was in the Vimy ridge. Saw young Erb last night + he says he has been pretty lucky so far. Eddie Bish is now with the stretcher bearers. How do you like your work along the boarder? Have you ever met with an trouble with aliens? What is your daily routine? If you get home for few days this summer at you expect to, try + humor Papa up. When you are through with your service + you are wise you will stay at home

- help father. I am sorry I went through my opporation [sic] for the sake of getting over here + could I have my choice again I would stay where I was + let well enough alone. Father must be worrying a great deal according to the way he writes + wishes I were home to help him. I feel that it was not my duty to leave him as he cannot get the help for farm that he should + it has left a great burden on his hands. He is getting pretty old + I know that he cannot look after it all. The sooner one of us gets back to help him the better. He said the seed orders were coming in rapidly + kept them quite busy getting them out. Well Orley I will have to close as have no more paper. Hope you are well. Your loving brother
