Administrative history

Salem Lutheran Church was begun as a preaching station in 1860 by Rev. H. W. Wichmann, pastor at Floradale (Ont.). In 1863, Rev. J. A. Ernst, pastor at Elmira and Floradale, served the small group of believers. Salem Lutheran Church was officially chartered in 1868 as a congregation within the Eastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the Canadian portion of which is now East District of Lutheran Church-Canada. It was part of a tri-parish with Floradale and Linwood. The congregation disbanded in 1896.
