        History

        Founded in 1839 in New England, Connecticut. Founed by Henry Russel and Cornelius Erwin. The company manufactured locks and associated building hardware until its merger with a number of other companies, specifically P & F Corbin in 1902 to form the American Hardware Company. The main factory continued to produce building hardware under the Russwin name. Russwin labeled products were also manufactured at the Belleville Corbin factory.
