Under the major reorganization of 2002, work related to Emergency Response was moved to the Justice, Global and Ecumenical Relations Unit from the Division of World Outreach. Work in the Unit was overseen by Area Secretaries (2002-2004), then Program Coordinators (2005-2010). Work related to Emergency Response fell under many different titles and was divided up many times between different Program Coordinators. From 2002-2004, work was overseen by a Secretary, Global Development: Emergency Response. For 2005-2009, work was combined under the titles of South Africa/Emergency Response. From 2010 until the end of 2012, work related to Emergency Response became a part of the newly created Partners in Mission Unit. It was then overseen by a Program Coordinator for Emergency Response Development. Gary Kenny was the Program Coordinator for Emergency Response from 2005-2013.
In 2013, the Communities in Ministry and Partners in Mission units were merged to create the Church in Mission Unit. In the Church in Mission Unit, work related to Emergency Response became a part of Church in Partnership, with a Program Coordinator for Emergency Response and International Development.
Series consists of the following subseries; Office Files, 2000-2009; Emergency Response by Area, 2001-2011.
