RCAF Station St-Jean was formed on 2 March 1951 following the decision to move 2 Manning Depot and the Personnel Selection Unit there from Aylmer, Ontario. Both these units had been formed originally at Trenton and had moved from there to Aylmer in 1949. The official name of the station was St. John’s but this was changed on 21 December 1959 to St-Jean. The station was redesignated to Canadian Forces Base St-Jean on 1 April 1966 and was allocated to Training Command.
