Biographical history

Ralph Ray Krueger (1927-1999) was a geography professor and researcher at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario. Krueger received his BA and MA from the University of Western Ontario, and his PhD from Indiana University. Ralph Krueger was employed by Wayne State University, Waterloo Lutheran University (now Wilfrid Laurier University), and the University of Waterloo. He was founding chair of the Department of Geography and Planning at the University of Waterloo, retiring in 1990. Krueger’s research focused on Canada’s fruitlands with emphasis on the Niagara fruit belt, land use issues in the rural-urban fringe, resource management, regional economic development, and local government restructuring. In 1984 he received the Distinguished Teaching Achievement Award, National Council for Geographic Education. In 1985 Ralph Krueger received the Distinguished Teacher Award from the University of Waterloo.
