Scope and content
Series consists of material written by Alan James between 1957 and 1998. Includes articles, book reviews, lecture texts and book chapters, which were published in a variety of peacekeeping journals, magazines, newspapers and books. Subjects covered include the United Nations generally, and specifically in relation to international relations, the Cold War and disarmament, and UN peacekeeping in general as well as specific peacekeeping operations. The series also contains two books by Alan James. Sovereign Statehood: The Basis of International Society, was published in 1986 as part of the Key Concepts in International Relations Series, and Britain and the Congo Crisis: 1960-1963 was published in 1996.

Alan James has published a large amount of material on peacekeeping, the United Nations, diplomacy, and international society over the course of his career as a student and then a professor of International Relations. His numerous articles have appeared in journals such as International Relations, The World Today, and Diplomacy and Statecraft. James’ publications also include numerous book chapters, newspaper articles, and books.
