Administrative history

The Public Affairs & Communications department is responsible for raising the profile of UHN’s hospitals, foundations and research institutes. Their staff provide expertise in external and internal communications, publications, media relations, issues management, government relations, design and graphics, and UHN’s website. Their role includes preparing communications regarding upcoming events, programs, research initiatives and services that are meant for a variety of audiences—internally for a department, to an entire UHN site, or to all of UHN, and externally to the broader public. They are also responsible for UHN’s public website.

The position of Vice President, Public Affairs & Communications has been held by Gloria Bishop (1999-2002) and Gillian Howard (2002- ).
