Scope and content
The Projects series contains the following subseries and reflects the major projects, ongoing and not, that CLGRO worked on. The Projects series is defined loosely as projects with a specific goal and those which were conducted as ongoing to generally advance the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in Ontario, i.e. 4.2 Evidence of Discrimination. The CLGRO conducted outreach around Ontario through a travelling slideshow and speaking series, they had various fundraising initiatives, such as their Bike-a-thons. Project Affirmation was Health Canada funded project sponsored by CLGRO that looked at the health care and social service needs of sexual minorities in Ontario, it ended in 1997 with a follow up report Systems Failure: A report on the Experiences of Sexual Minorities in Ontario’s Health-Care and Social Services Systems which demonstrated the discrimination and systemic barriers faced by LGBTQ+ community in Ontario when accessing health care and social services including 78 recommendations for systemic change. 4.5 is dedicated to the letter writing campaigns that CLGRO and its members did to politicians, and materials on elections they collected. 4.5 Tapes (Books on Tape) contains the project called “Books on Tape” run by Christine Donald, the administrator of CLGRO at the time, where books on LGBTQ+ issues were read aloud for those who were visually impaired or blind.
