Administrative history

Powassan Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly union. It includes Powassan and Chisholm. From 1955 to 1960, the charge also included Wasing.

Powassan United Church, located at 462 Main Street in Powassan, was established in 1925, formerly a union church. Presbyterians met in Powassan as early as 1877; however, it wasn't until 1888 the congregation had its own church, located on 12th Concession (current site of the fair grounds). It was named Knox Presbyterian Church. Powassan Methodist Church was established in 1885 and a church was built that year. A second church was built in 1892. On April 16, 1918, the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches decided to become a union church and services were held at the Methodist Church. A new church was constructed in 1926.It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Chisholm United Church, located at 1469 Chiswick Line, Powassan, was established in 1925, formerly a union church.The Methodists and Presbyterian united in 1918 to become the Union Church of Chisholm, meeting in the Methodist building. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.
