        History

Opportunity for Youth was a local non-profit organization founded in 1986 with the leadership of Marjorie and John Sorrell, Graham Brown, et al. It had the objective of creating a youth centre for the recreation of the youth of Port Hope. The committee intended to raise the money to purchase a premises and run the youth centre, but was not able to raise enough funds. After several years, the group decided to instead turn the funds over to the Town of Port Hope. The money was used to build a youth activity room in the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
