Fonds was donated to the Ganaraska Region Archives on an indefinite-term loan, 2000. The records were brought to the archives on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the hospital as a result of a motion passed at a Board of Trustees Meeting. Artifacts donated to the archives by the Board were transferred to the East Durham Historical Society for inclusion in Dorothy's House Museum, 2002.
Scope and content
Series consists of various books and other publications originally belonging to the Port Hope & District Hospital or members of its staff. It includes: History of the Hospital Scrapbook; "A History of Port Hope Hospitals, 1911-1980" (by Isabel Humble); Open House Guest Books, 1964 & 1980; Hospital Formulary - Pharmacy Department, 1978; "The Pre-Op Book;" "Anatomy and Physiology for Nurses," 1893; "Religion and Medicine," 1908; "Fever Nursing," 1887; "Surgical Nursing," 1899; "Nursing - Its Principles and Practice," 1900; "Port Hope Hospital Report," 1955; "Forgotten Heroes: The Canadians at Dieppe;" Port Hope Hospital Trust Register of Wills.
