Biographical history
Margaret Beatrice Leitch (née Cartwright) (d. 1979) was chair of the York University Theatre Committee in 1966 when a Faculty of Fine Arts was proposed for York University. She later entered the faculty as an undergraduate student and in 1976 was commissioned to prepare a 'history' of the faculty for its tenth anniversary. Leitch was the wife of John D. Leitch, a member of the Board of Governors at the time.
Custodial history
This material was originally sent to the Office of the President and was transferred to the York University Archives in January, 1980.
Scope and content
The collection consists of photocopies of newspaper clippings, one audio tape cassette which contains an interview with Jules Heller, first dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at York, and three copies of the transcript of the tape.
