Page & Steele Architects is a Toronto, Ontario based architectural firm, established in 1926. Partners in the firm were Forsey B. Page (1885-1970) and Harland Steele (b. 19--?).
Born in Toronto, Page attended St. Andrew's College, Aurora, Ontario, and the University of Toronto. In 1925, he became a partner in the architectural firm of Page and Steele. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and of the Royal Academy of Arts. He was President of the Ontario Association of Architects, 1934-1935, Chancellor of the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, 1952-1955, and Senator of the University of Toronto, 1950-1954. Page was married to Nellie Pentland and, later, Laura Rosser Emerson.
Also born in Toronto, Harland Steele had a Bachelor of Architecture and attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Between 1926 and 1965, he was a partner in the firm of Page & Steele. In addition, Steele was a fellow of both the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Royal Institute of British Architects. In 1960, he served as President of the Ontario Association of Architects.
In addition, architects, Stamford Warrington and Earl C. Morgan were associated with the firm.
Notable projects of the firm of Page & Steel are: Garden Court Apartments, Leaside, 1939-1950; Toronto Teacher's College, Toronto, 1953; the Ontario Workman's Compensation Board headquarters, Toronto, 1958; Regent Park South Housing Development, Toronto, 1956-1957; the O'Keefe Centre, Toronto, 1955-1960; and Commerce Court office development, 1966-1974.
With an extensive expertise in the design of retail, residential, hotel and office designs and with practices in Hong Kong, the Middle East and Prague, Page & Steele also has a reputation for residential design. The firm has received many Canadian and international commissions for some of the largest developers in North America. After Mr. Page's death and Mr. Steele's retirement, the company continued to operate on high quality designs and projects. The firm has received 24 design awards and participated in numerous design competitions. The partnership has been awarded 5 Massey medals - Canada's highest architectural honour.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of the records created and accumulated by Page & Steele Architects. Fonds includes architectural drawings, change notices, orders, specifications, contracts, tenders, correspondence, progress reports, accounting records, filed instructions, drawings transmittal forms, work schedules, electrical and mechanical files, construction meeting minutes, slides and progress photographs from various projects.
Nearly all projects represented in this fonds are in the Toronto area, and include: Commerce Court office development; O'Keefe Performing Arts Centre (currently the Sony Centre, formerly known as the Hummingbird Centre); Beth Tzedec Synagogue; Kimbourne Park United Church; Moss Armoury; Regent Park South Housing Development; York University Chapel and Religious Centre; and Garden Court Apartments.
