Ottawa United Church began its existence in 1920 as Moy Avenue Methodist, in Windsor, acquiring the name Ottawa Methodist in 1921. In 1925 a new building, at 1728 Lincoln Road in Walkerville, was opened on the same day that the United Church of Canada came into existence. In 1956 expansion of this building was completed and the church renamed Emmanuel United.
