Administrative history
The Ottawa Canoe Club and the New Edinburgh Canoe Club amalgamated in 1914 to form the Ottawa New Edinburgh Canoe Club with the objective of better promotion of canoe sports. The addition of tennis courts in 1925 and a gradual increase of social events have given these greater prominence over the years.
Custodial history
The material was in the custody of the donors until transferred to the archives.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of a brief history of the club, financial documents, membership lists, minutes of meetings (1955-1981), general correspondence relating to club activities, legal documents, awards, newsletters, tennis club information, ribbons, pennants, maps, 1 plan, an embossing stamp, an O.N.E.C.C. sweater, newspaper articles and photographs relating to the club's social and athletic programs and regattas with other clubs.
