The Optimist Club of Wallace Township of the Ontario District of Optimist International was chartered on Dec. 13, 1973 at the Kurtzville Community Centre, Wallace Township, Perth County, Ontario. The executive was, president, John Verbeek; vice-president, Murray Musty; vice-president, Norman Koch; secretary-treasurer, Ron Shelley. The Optimist Club of Wallace Township disbanded in October 2002. Optimist Clubs raise their own funds and choose their own service projects to improve the lives of children in their own community. Sponsoring youth athletic leagues, scholarship essay and speech contests and supporting local schools are examples of typical projects.

The records of the Optimist Club of Wallace Township were generally in the possession of the secretary of the Optimist Club of Wallace Township until they were donated to the Stratford-Perth Archives.
