Administrative history

The Office of the Director of Utilization and Special Services was created in 1967. Mr. J.R. Hagerman (1967-1968), Ms. M Inglis (1969-1972), Mrs. W. Plachta (1973-1981), and Mr. L. Boehm (1982-1986) served as Director. Following the 1986 merger with the Toronto Western Hospital to form The Toronto Hospital, Mr. Boehm continued as Assistant Vice President, Utilization and Special Service - Toronto General Division.

The function of the Office was to oversee the efficient use of all Hospital facilities, and to plan and manage the development of new, specialized Hospital services.

Series consists of correspondence, offers to lease various properties, and architectural drawings associated with the Hospital’s plans to establish a detoxification centre.
