História administrativa
The first effort to organize the nursing staff of the TGH occurred in January 1869 when Mary Hay was hired as the first Lady Superintendent, in charge of the nursing staff and the domestic affairs (housekeeping) of the Hospital. Miss Hay left the Hospital in December 1875 and in 1876 Harriet Goldie became Lady Superintendent. In April 1881, largely because of Miss Goldie’s initiative, the Training School for Nurses was founded at the TGH and Miss Goldie became Superintendent of the Training School. Miss Goldie retired in 1883 and was eventually succeeded by Mary Agnes Snively, who served as Lady Superintendent and Superintendent of the Training School from 1884 to 1910 (from 1905 she was allowed to concentrate solely on administering the nursing staff and the School). Subsequent Superintendents/Directors of the nursing staff and School: Jean I. Gunn (1913-1941), Mary E. Macfarland (1942-1960), Jean Dodds (1960-1970). Following Miss Dodds’ retirement, administrative responsibility for the nursing staff and the School of Nursing was divided. Patricia Stanojevic became Director of the School of Nursing until its dissolution in 1974. V.M Aboud (1970-May 1971), E.D. Strike (June 1971-1973) served as Director of Nursing, and Miss Strike (1973-1978) and D.M Wylie (1978-1986) as Vice President, Nursing.
