Elisha Newton McConnell (1877-1940) was a political cartoonist who worked for the Toronto Daily News in the early twentieth century.
He was born in Lakeside, Elgin County, Ontario in 1877. He graduated from the Ontario School of Art in 1900, and worked for Saturday Night magazine and a humour magazine called "The Moon". Historial de custodia
In 1914, E.N. McConnell made the Archives of Ontario the "custodian" of this fonds. However, ownership of the drawings remained with McConnell. They were left to Evelyn McConnell in 1938, who transferred ownership to Gary McConnell in 1980. Finally, in 1993, Gary McConnell donated the drawings to the Archives of Ontario, who had continued to act as custodian in the intervening 79 years.
