The Collection was started by the National Museums of Canada Corporation (NMC), the precursor crown corporation that was responsible for the National Science and Technology Museum, National Aviation Museum, and Agriculture Museum. When the Museums Act was passed on 1 July 1990, the National Museum of Science and Technology Corporation (NMSTC) was established and the NMC images were divided and distributed amongst its successors according to the photograph’s subject area. The Collection also has significant amounts of photographs that were taken by Museum staff, primarily in the 1980s.
Scope and content
Collection consist of 8 series of photograph prints, negatives and slides pertaining to events, exhibits, and artifacts at three national museums: Canada Science and Technology Museum, Canada Aviation Museum and the Canada Agriculture Museum.
