Administrative history

The Morrish Branch of the Federated Women's Institute of Ontario was created in 1909 as the Charlecote Branch of Hope Township, Ontario. It was run out of the Morrish United Church hall and the households of members from 1909-2010. (See also Federated Women's Institute of Ontario).

Custodial history

Donated to the Port Hope Archives by the (former) Morrish Women's Institute. Materials were created by the Morrish Branch of the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario (FWIO), 1909-2010.

Scope and content

Series consists of correspondence and notes created by the Morrish Branch of the Women's Institute, 1959-2010. It includes: cards and correspondence between the Morrish Women's Institute, various political dignitaries, individuals, and other organizations; it also consists of hand written notes on the history of education in Hope Township (including Port Britain S.S. #1).
