The Mitchell Square Women's Institute branch was founded in Feb. 1913 and encompasses Oro Twp. Concessions 7 and 8 between Hwy 11 and County Rd. 11 (Old Barrie Road). The branch joined Kempenfelt District in 1966. Some of its activities have included providing wreaths and flowers for cenotaphs, raising funds for charitable organizations through crokinole and euchre parties, quilting parties, and suppers.
