Administrative history

The Medical Records Department was in place at the TGH by 1952, and was headed by Miss Margaret Wilson, Medical Records Librarian. Prior to the formal establishment of the Department, medical records produced at the TGH were retained (from [192?]) in the “History Room”. The Medical Records Department was responsible for collecting, preparing, organizing, storing, and preserving confidential patient records and other medical records produced in the Hospital. The Department regularly compiled statistical reports for Hospital administrators. By 1986 the Department was administratively controlled by the Utilization and Special Services Directorate.
