History
By 1867, Norman McInnes had established himself as post master and merchant of the General Store on Queen Street in Tiverton, Bruce County, Ontario. Norman McInnes died in November 1899 at the age of 75, leaving his estate to his spinster sister, Christina McInnes. Christina Mcinnes is listed as storekeeper in the 1901 census. The 1910 Farmers’ and Business Directory for the Counties of Bruce, Grey & Simcoe lists the store as "McInnis & Co. General Store". Christina passed away May 13, 1914, leaving the bulk of her estate to her nephew Irwin Paterson, identified as a merchant residing in Tiverton.
