    Mary White was a resident in Toronto. She had previously lived in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

    Custodial history

    The letters were given by the Estate of Mary White to the County of Prince Edward Public Library and Archives.

    Scope and content

    Fonds consists of four letters sent home to Canada by Canadian soldiers overseas during the First World War. One letter is dated 1914, one 1916 and the two others are not dated. One of the writers was named J. Edgar MacKay, another C.E. Morris, the third might have been called Walter and the last is unknown. There are descriptions of trench life, running in "No Man's Land", unit movements, and poetry, among other subjects.
