Biographical history

Margaret Jane MacKinnon was a City of Guelph Alderman from 1973 until 1986. She was born in 1924 in Kincardine Ontario. In 1942 MacKinnon moved to Toronto and attended the University of Toronto, receiving a B.A (1945) and a teaching certificate from the College of Education in 1946. In 1946, she married Dr. Archie MacKinnon and moved to Guelph, where she lived until her death in May 2014.

Custodial history

These records were held continuously by Marg MacKinnon until they were transferred to the Guelph Public Library archives, probably in the early 1980's. Subsequant accurals have been received since the 1980s. See accruals.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of records created, used or accumulated by Margaret MacKinnon during the course of her work as a City of Guelph Alderman from 1973 until 1986. The records relate to most aspects of City government functions and activities, as well as records of other government bodies gathered for consultative purposes.

The fonds is organized into eleven series.
