    Biographical history

    Maunsell Charles Buckwell (Buck) served with the Canadian Army during 1939-1968 and retired with the rank of Major. Born in 1919, he enlisted in the 93rd Field Battalion, 18th Field Brigade, Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) in 1939. Buckwell was a career Army officer, a veteran of the Second World War, and served in many international positions. He retired in 1968 and joined the Federal Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1984. Buckwell died 9 March 2004.

    Fonds consists of one bound volume prepared by Major Maunsell Charles Buckwell relating to the history of the Buckwell family. It is entitled "A history of the Buckwell Family Volume One, the Badminton Group" and includes a collection of memories from various family members, biographical sketches, newspaper clippings, family trees, photographs, letters from family members, all edited by M.C. Buckwell. The family history extends back as far as 1799 and William Buckwell, and includes materials into the year 2000.
