London Loyal Orange Lodge #188 was originally founded in 1835. A new warrant was issued on July 12, 1844; due to the theft of the early minutes in 1872, almost nothing about the early activities of this lodge is known. After this theft, another warrant was applied for, and received on September 19, 1872. Meetings were held in the Orange Hall on Adelaide Street in London, Ontario; after the robbery, meetings were held for a time at the Orange Hall in the Victoria Buildings on Richmond Street, north of King Street. The earliest known officers (1872) were: Bro. Thomas Peel – Worshipful Master Bro. Joseph M. Wilson – Secretary
