Lakefield Heritage became Lakefield Heritage Research in 1990. The research company is based out of Lakefield, Ontario. Gordon Young, the editor at Lakefield Heritage Research (LHR), has contributed a great deal to this collection. Other researchers at LHR who have collaborated on this project include Steve McCracken and Kevin McCarthy.

This collection was created by Lakefield Heritage Research and was in the custody of Gordon Young before it was donated to Trent University Archives.

Collection consists primarily of photocopies and emails with information pertaining to various aspects of Peterborough's history, from both the city and the county. Brief history of the town of Lakefield is also included.

Materials in the this collection were acquired over several years. Many items were sent directly to the Archives as email and email attachments, while others were hand-delivered by Gordon Young.
