Fondos - The Order of The Knights of The Round Table, Table #18, Dixie fonds

The Order of The Knights of The Round Table, Table #18, Dixie was a chapter of the larger non-secretarian, religious, fraternal organization for young men, for those who "realize the need for definite, concerted action on the part of youth for the establishment of the highest ideals of life and conduct." (Within the organization, a "Table" was their name for a chapter.) As of 1940, the Table had 22 members, one of whom was from Port Credit.

Citing the legend of King Arthur and his knights as inspiration, they aimed to achieve his ideals through "organized study and clean living". Their focus of study was on The Man and Jesus, The Man and His Fellow Men, The Man and His Material Life, The Man and His Mind, and The Man and His Body. Scheduled subjects throughout all "Tables" of the organization in 1938-1939 included unemployment, the co-operative movement, social security, eugenics and sex, fascism, communism and socialism, proportional representation, parliamentary procedure and practice, aviation, socialized medicine, personality, aviation, and the St. Lawrence Waterway Project, among others.

The organization was founded by W. Earle Gordon in 1931, and as of 1938, the organization's secretary was based in Mimico. The organization opened its tenth chapter (later Table) in Uxbridge in Mar. 1935. The parent organization (Table 1) existed until at least Jan. 1941. Their annual ball that year was in benefit of the British War Victims' Fund.
