Administrative history
Kanados Lietuvių Bendruomenės (KLB) Winnipeg Apylinkė (Lithuanian Canadian Community Winnipeg Chapter) was established as the regional chapter of the Lithuanian Canadian Community (LCC) for Lithuanians living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. During the late spring and early summer of 1948, Lithuanians living in Winnipeg formed a chapter of the Kanados Lietuvių Taryba (Lithuanian Council of Canada), which later split into a Kanados Lietuvių Sąjunga or KLS (Lithuanian Association of Canada) chapter and a chapter loyal to the Kanados Lietuvių Centro Taryba or KLCT (Lithuanian Council of Canada Central Committee). At a general meeting of Winnipeg’s Lithuanian community held on 1950-1-22 organized by Winnipeg’s Apylinkės Laikinasis Organizacinis Komitetas or ALOK (Provisional Chapter Organizing Committee), Winnipeg’s Lithuanians voted to form a KLB Winnipeg chapter and its first executive was elected. The Winnipeg chapter hosted Kanados Lietuvių Dienos (Lithuanian Canadian Days) only once in 1974. The KLB Winnipeg chapter was still active in 2009.
