Kanados Lietuvių Bendruomenės (KLB) Welland apylinkė (Lithuanian Canadian Community Welland chapter) was established as the regional chapter of the Lithuanian Canadian Community (LCC) for Lithuanians living in Welland, Ontario and the surrounding area including Niagara Falls and Port Colborne. During 1949, Lithuanians living in the Welland region formed a chapter of the Kanados Lietuvių Taryba (Lithuanian Council of Canada) that on 1949-5-8 split into a Kanados Lietuvių Sąjunga or KLS (Lithuanian Association of Canada) chapter and a chapter loyal to the Kanados Lietuvių Centro Taryba or KLCT (Lithuanian Council of Canada Central Committee). On 1950-3-25 representatives of these two groups along with representatives of several other organizations officially formed Welland’s Apylinkės Laikinasis Organizacinis Komitetas or ALOK (Provisional Chapter Organizing Committee). At a general meeting of the region’s Lithuanians held on 1952-10-5 organized by the Welland LOK, the Welland LCC chapter was officially formed and its first executive was elected. The Welland chapter, along with the St. Catharines LCC chapter, hosted Kanados Lietuvių Dienos (Lithuanian Canadian Days) in 1957 in Niagara Falls. The Welland chapter was dissolved in 1996 following the death of its executive’s president, Antanas Žinaitis in March of 1996.
