Biographical history

James Richard O'Brien is a retired Lieutenant of the Canadian Army and an author of humour. In September of 1952, he became a 2nd Lieutenant of the Royal Canadian Artillery Reserve Force.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of humorous anecdotes and articles written by James Richard O'Brien concerning his military career. Also included are copies of O'Brien's Certificate of Military Qualification, correspondence between DHH staff and O'Brien, a copy of the diary kept by O'Brien's father, William Joseph O'Brien, accounting his military experience during the Battle at Vimy Ridge, a short biography and image of William Joseph O'Brien.
